NICE & NOURISH – Honeybrains Eatery

posted in: Nice and Nourish | 1

Whenever I am in New York City, I stop at Honeybrains down in NoHo because my brain needs some delicious nourishment!

The Honeybrains concept is a family affair (including a neuroscientist) and was created after reviewing the science related to food and the human brain. The menu is as delicious as it is incredibly beneficial. Composed of vegetables, fruits, legumes, and foods high in Omega3, with healthful garnishings of herbs, spices, fermented foods and pure sweeteners from nature.

All of the main ingredients (including the raw untreated honey) are sourced from local farms that practice sustainable methods of agriculture. Everything is reviewed by registered dietician Amy Von Sydow Green who earned her degree in Sweden. The result is natural ingredients that are tasty and help give your brain a boost (and who doesn’t need that!)

The Honeybrains Farm Salad with tai-color quinoa, chickpeas, avocado, shaved fennel, cucumber, tomatoes, sweet peppers, pickled radish, grapes, almonds, raisins, fresh herbs and organic mesclun greens.
The Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich has crispy free-range chicken, tango mango amba sauce, pickled onions (made in house), micro greens, Kalamata olives and comes on an eight grain ciabatta (Or gluten-free bread if you prefer) The vegetarian version substitutes grilled curry cauliflower for the chicken. One of the best sandwhiches I have ever had!
To get you going and to keep you going, Honeybrains has a variety of their own Juices and Shots.
The Honeybrains Salads are so fresh and delicious and you can add Grass-Fed Sirloin Steak, Atlantic Salmon, Daily White Fish, Pulled Free-Range Chicken or Free-Range Chicken Breast. Brilliant!
At the Brain Bar you will find unique teas and coffees (a shot of honey in your drink is free!) and gluten-free desserts. You wont find any processed sugar in Honeybrains food choices.
And of course, there’s honey, like this great NYC Urban Honey from Queens.
When the weather is nice, you might want to eat outside at the NoHo location and just watch all the supermodels and famous people walk by (it’s that kind of neighborhood) or try Honeybrains’ newest location at 34 West 22nd Street (Flatiron District) between 5th and 6th. Either way, your brain will thank you! – VLR
